Space satellite transport provider Momentus and LunaSonde on Thursday announced a launch service agreement to send a demonstration Cubesat (Gossamer) to sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO) in Q1 2021, with other options to pilot a constellation of 3U Cubesats to SSO in the future. Momentus is a space transport and space logistics company that uses technologies such as plasma propulsion to enable inexpensive orbital shuttle and charter services. Momentus has already demonstrated its nuclear technology in space and is currently preparing for the next two customer test missions, which will begin this year. LunaSonde is a radar satellite remote sensing startup that enables underground imagery from space. The company has done pioneering work on a technology that allows small satellites to “perform an MRI scan of planet Earth.” This technology, combined with algorithms, enables direct imaging to identify underground resources such as water, oil and mineral resources. “We are honored to have been selected as partners for the orbital placement of the Gossamer mission,” said Mikhail Kokorich, CEO of Momentus. “We share lunaSonde`s goal of delivering breakthrough technologies that benefit both Earth and space.” A representation of momentus` Vigoride in the space shuttle.
